Giving Back:Old Boys Of CIC Enugu Are Showing Leadership And Good Examples

By Ifeoma Okeke (Umunna TV)

When it comes to giving back to their alma mata, the old boys of College of Immaculate Conception (CIC), Enugu rank among the most dedicated in Nigeria.

In the past, the old boys have carried out many interventions in the school including constructing a 2,000 capacity alumni centre/event hall, multi-storey hostel complex, roads, classroom refurbishments etc. These projects have cost the old boys millions of dollars, according to Mr. Emma DenChukwu, former Global President of CIC Old Boys International.

Their current project is the audacious multipurpose sports centre (MSC), which contains a swimming pool, indoor basketball court, track and field facilities, football field etc. When this is completed, there will not be anything like it in Nigeria.

“All the projects we have embarked on in the school are 100% from the donations of our old boys, without any government support. We have committed old boys who are successful in their chosen careers all over the world, and they contribute regularly to our fund drives which we carry out mainly through our Whatsapp platform”, DenChukwu said. “It is our shared memories and experiences during our secondary school days at CIC Enugu, that continues to bind us. We had a wonderful Principal back then, Rev. Father Charles Ikeme from Nimo, and he helped instil the virtues of giving and community service on us all”, he concluded.

Kudos to CIC old boys. This is worthy of emulation.
