Mr Kaycee Okenwa was involved in a ghastly accident which left him disabled. This was brought to my attention and I paid him a surprise visit just over a month ago in February. What touched me deeply in my conversation with him was the fact that he said that the most painful thing to him, as a man, was staying home while his wife had to work and fend for the family, and how his children no longer came to him but to his wife to request for books, food or any daily needs since, even at their tender ages, they could now sense that he was no longer the breadwinner of the family…a traumatic situation for any man in our African setting.

I casually brought up this situation in a conversation with His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi the next day, and he was so full of compassion and empathy for this accident victim. He indicated that the best thing to do was to give this man an opportunity to fend for his family once more.
He made the resources available for a Humanitarian intervention to facilitate a provision store for this man very close to his abode, fully stocked as well as to provide other electronic items including a deep freezer. I thank Our Parish Priest Father Longinus Ugonwa for overseeing this exercise, making it a reality in record time.

The handing over of the store on Sunday to Mr Kaycee was an emotional ceremony and one could literally see the joy in the face of a young man who had literally lost all hope in life.
On this occasion of the 58th Birthday Of Governor Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi, I pay tribute to a compassionate and benevolent leader. I thank him for this gesture, but above all, for his serial Humanitarian interventions and impacting lives, project by project, in God’s Name.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, H.E IFEANYI LAWRENCE UGWUANYI. God bless and keep you. May your shadow never grow dim.
