In line with the directive by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for On-spot assessment of Anambra Waste Management Agency (ASWMA), the state Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim on Friday, 6th May, 2022 visited the operational base of the agency in Awka.
Mr Deputy Governor, while interacting with the staff of the agency explained that,the Governor ordered for the need assessment visit as to ascertain the challenges hindering effective evacuation of refuse from the streets of Anambra.
Dr Ibezim having heard first hand some of the challenges hindering effective operation at the agency, assured the optimistic workers of government readiness to better their condition by looking into their unpaid wages; maintenance of waste evacuation vehicles and their general welfare, while
informing them that work must commiserate with wages, to avoid idle capacity.
In his reaction the Managing Director of the agency, Mr Amaechi Akora, expressed the willingness of the agency to collaborate with the committee led by Mr Deputy Governor to ensure sustainabilty of the new structure being put on ground.
