On Tuesday 10th May, the Senate at plenary observed a minute silence in honour of the former senator, Arthur Nzeribe.
Senator Arthur Nzeribe, who died on Sunday 8th May 2022 at the age of 83, represented Imo West Senatorial District between 1999 and 2007.
The news of his death was brought to plenary by Rochas Okorocha following a point of order raised. Mr Okorocha revealed the former lawmaker died after a protracted illness. According to him, the late Nzeribe was an astute politician and philanthropist and was loved by his people in Oguta and beyond.
He also urged the senate to push for the immortalisation of the deceased in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, in his remarks, encouraged young politicians to emulate the life of service by the deceased politician.
Members of the senate, afterwards, observed a minute silence to honour the deceased.
