Despite claims and promises of repair by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Amansea axis of the Enugu- Onitsha Expressway has over time remained a horrible nightmare for motorists especially during the rainy season.
The sorry state of the Amansea Junction of the expressway, and the hardship motorists plying that road face daily, usually leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
This particular stretch of road has always been made a campaign point by politicians, but after each election cycle, nothing gets done and the road users are abandoned once again to their fate.
Motorists and road users severally spend hours at the bad spots, and now that the rains are here, the agony of road users has increased.
On Sunday, 5th June, 2022, after a heavy downpour, motorists as usual were stuck at the Amansea Junction axis of the Enugu – Onitsha expressway, writhing in severe anguish and anger, with many raining curses and abuses on the government for their insensitivity.
Will the ruling APC use the same spot as campaign point again ahead of the 2023 general elections as the deplorable state of the axis is now like a cancer on their throat, as the axis is now impassable due to the heavy rains?
Will the federal government remain insensitive to the plight of motorists on that axis, or will the Anambra State Government step in and intervene with some palliative works, like it has done in the past? Time will tell.
