Security Operatives Gun Down Suspected Kidnappers At Oko and Oba, Anambra State

Anambra state Governor Soludo’s effort in bringing to an end the menace of unknown gunmen in the state may have started yielding results, as security operatives on Sunday, 5th June, 2022, killed two gunmen, one at Oko, Orumba North local government area of the state, and another at Oba in Idemili South local government area, Anambra People reports.

Oko has recently become the hotbed of incessant attacks by hoodlums. People live in fear in the polytechnic town.

The gunman killed at Oko was identified as a former vigilante who was part of a 4 – man gang that have been involved in high profile killings and kidnapping around the area.

They had entered Oko through Nanka for a kidnap operation and almost succeeded, but for the prompt intervention of the police special force acting on a tip- off which engaged them in gunfire. While one of them was killed, others escaped with various degrees of injuries.

Also police raided the hideout of a deadly gang terrorising Oba community, and environ, and arrested some of the hoodlums who have held the state to ransome. They also killed one of the notorious terrorists disturbing the area.

Recall that the Commissioner of Police in Anambra state, Mr Echeng Echeng had recently in a press interview promised to make Anambra state uncomfortable for these gunmen who have been terrorising the state.

The gunmen seemed to be on rampage this Sunday as they were seen moving unchallenged from one location to another.

Items recovered from the gangs include charms, Ak -47 rifles, police uniforms etc
