President Muhammadu Buhari who is on a 3-day working visit to Portugal has today 30th June, 2022 received the Portuguese National Honour from his Portuguese counterpart President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in Lisbon.
The Nigerian delegation which comprised of Geoffrey Onyeama (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Lai Mohammed (Information and Culture Minister), Adeniyi Adebayo (Minister of Trade and Investment), Isa Pantami (Communication and Digital Minister) and Sunday Dare (Minister of Youth and Sports) amongst others.


The delegation is expected to engage members of the Nigerian community on matters that concerns their welfare and wellbeing in Portugal and president Buhari’s think-home-philosophy.
The visit is expected to foster bilateral talks between the two nations and seeking collaborative solutions to various challenges facing the two nations especially seeking science-based innovative solutions to numerous challenges facing the oceans and global maritime ecosystem.

The “Great Collar Of The Order Of Prince Henry” is a five-tier order, whose titles are awarded to military/civilian Portuguese and foreigners alike for relevant services to Portugal and for services in the expansion of the Portuguese culture, history and its values (with a particular focus on its maritime history).
The number of members in each grade is restricted by its constitution, and titles are attributed by special decree by the Grand Master of the Order, the President of Portugal.
The Great Collar of the Order of Prince Henry is the highest grade of the honour usually reserved for heads of state.
