The Confederation of African Football (CAF) presents Awards to the best African Footballer each year for both male and female category and other 11 various award categories since 1992.
This year’s award held on July 21st, 2022 at Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Rabat Morrocco’s Capital saw former players and sports administrators in Africa turn out for the African prestigious sports ceremony and the thirteen (13) nominees for the different Award categories, like the African best players, best teams, best coaches, clubs, CAF goal of the year et cetera all in attendance.
27-year old Nigerian Asisat Oshoala and Barcelona female team strike was announced winner of the CAF African Women’s Player of the year 2022 which makes it a record fifth (5) times she will be winning the Award and thereby surpassing former super Falcons player, Perpetua Nkwocha’s record.
On the other hand, Senegal and Bayern Munich striker, Sadio Mane won the men category for 2022 African Player of the Year Award beating off his competitors, former team mate Mohamed Salah and Chelsea goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy, to clinch the prestigious award for a glorious second time.
