ACSONET Calls For Investigations Into Controversial Death Of Mrs Iloka, Alleges Intimidation Of Journalists, Others

Anambra Civil Society Network, ACSONET, has called on the State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, to intensify investigation into circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs Chidiebere Iloka, wife of the suspended Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, Mr Mbazulike Iloka.

ACSONET also called for prompt updates from the Police on the matter.

Recall that following public outcry over controversial death of his wife, Chidiebere, and to allow unfettered investigations and justice, Anambrae State Government suspended Mr Iloka from office, weeks after his appointment.

Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of the group, Prince Chris Azor, equally suggested that the husband of the deceased and prime suspect in the case be taken into custody while investigations continue.

He explained that taking the prime suspect in the matter into custody will help to checkmate any undue influence on the process, and called for justice in the matter.

ACSONET said it also observed incidents of intimidation of journalists and members of deceased family over the matter, but said that the Civil Society community and other concerned citizens are keenly monitoring the whole episode, with a view to responding accordingly to issues bothering on human rights and GESI.
