National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, NISafetyE, Engineer Akaninyene Ekong, has called on members of the institution in Anambra, the academia, private sector and the Anambra State Government to support the institution for the overall of the people.
NISafetyE is a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers established in 2016, with core values that include ensuring that safety is first and always in all engineering practices with quality output.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new executive committee of NISafetyE, Anambra State chapter in Awka, Engineer Ekong also suggested establishment of Anambra Safety Commission for more impact on the people.
He called on members to take the lead in addressing the problem of safety engineering practice in Nigeria.
Speaking after inauguration, the third Chairman of NISafetyE, Anambra State chapter, Engineer Fimbarr Ajegwu, said the institution will continue to play vital role in the quest to deliver impactful, sustainable, and eco-friendly projects; as is desirable for a safe and livable society, assuring that NISafetyE will also promote best safety practices across board.
At the event that featured induction of new members and presentation of awards to select individuals, Anambra State Fire Chief, Engineer Martin Agbili, delivered lecture on “A safety and liveable Anambra State: the role of safety engineers in ensuring codes and standards”.
