2023: West African Elders Forum Tasks INEC On Credible Elections

By Joseph Albert (Umunna TV)

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a delegation of the West Africa Elders Forum has visited the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja on a pre-election mediation.

The delegation, through its leader and former President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, commended INEC for its efforts so far, but reminded them that a lot still needs to be done in order to achieve desired result.

In his response to the visitors, INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, described the visit by various bodies and organisations as a source of encouragement and a clear indication of the importance of Nigeria’s forthcoming general elections to the sub-region and beyond.

He said the region is fortunate to have respected former leaders who have remained in the forefront of the advocacy for good governance.
