According to news, President Muhammadu Buhari on November 23, 2022, unveiled redesigned N200, N500, and N1,000 notes and the Central Bank of Nigeria immediately fixed 31st January 2023 as the deadline for old notes usage.
Now, since the new development Nigerians have complained of insufficiency of the new currency in circulation. Stating that ATM machines still dispense old notes which makes it difficult to totally get rid of the old notes.
Meanwhile Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, maintains that there is no going back on the deadline shortly after the Monetary Policy Meeting on Tuesday.
In most markets and Religious settings, collection of old notes has ceased, Hence, making it difficult for the masses to transact or give freely as the new notes is yet to be efficiently in circulation.
A commercial tricycle rider, has decided, in a picture shared online, despite all these complains to turn his lemon into a lemonade by aptly providing his account details firmly placed on his tricycle for his customers to send in money after each trip thereby making it easier for both parties.
