On the 23rd of December 2022, the Anambra state commissioner for women affairs, Mrs Ify Obinabo came across four girls between the ages of 13 and 15 in Onitsha who were into prostitution.
On interrogation, the girls confessed that a certain madam Success James lured them into prostitution with a promise of restaurant job in Agbor, Delta State.
The suspect came under trial for child labour, child exploitation, abduction of children and child’s recalling in a children, sexual and Gender-based violence court in Awka.
Chief magistrate, Genevieve Osakwe who delivered the judgement on Wednesday, 8th February 2023 found Success James guilty of all the above charges.
She was sent to Awka correctional facility without an option of fine.
