Banks To Collect Old Notes On Saturdays — CBN

By Joseph Albert (Umunna TV) The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) today, Friday said banks would be working on Saturdays to receive the old maira notes from customers. Leader of the CBN team to Ebonyi on new Naira notes, Mr Kama Ukpai disclosed this at enlightenment campaign for traders at the Eke Market, Afikpo. He advised the public to visit banks to deposit old naira notes as there would be no extension on the Jan. 31 deadline for the notes’ submission. He said banks would work on Saturdays for this purpose and there are no limits to amounts that can be deposited. “The CBN team is in Ebonyi to ensure the implementation of the directives as we have not directed any bank to stop collecting old notes,” he said. A young man allegedly abducted near a hotel in Okpuno, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has been found dead. The deceased, simply identified as Ifeanyi, hailed from Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area. His body was found in Awka, the state capital on Christmas day. He was abducted on Friday along Geneva Hotel road. A friend of the deceased, Ebuka Okoye, posted his photograph on his Facebook wall. He blamed the growing insecurity in the state.
